Psalm 119: ט Teth

ט Teth

Psalm 119:65-72

65 Thou hast dealt well with Thy servant,
O LORD, according to Thy word.

66 Teach me good discernment and knowledge,
For I believe in Thy commandments.

67 Before I was afflicted I went astray,
But now I keep Thy word.

68 Thou art good and doest good;
Teach me Thy statutes.

69 The arrogant have forged a lie against me;
With all my heart I will observe Thy precepts.

70 Their heart is covered with fat,
But I delight in Thy law.

71 It is good for me that I was afflicted,
That I may learn Thy statutes.

72 The law of Thy mouth is better to me
Than thousands of gold and silver pieces.

[NASB 1977]

Over 22 days it is my hope to soak in and meditate on Psalm 119.  This is the longest chapter of the Bible with 22 sections.  Each of the 22 sections is an acrostic in the original Hebrew language that alliterates each statement with one letter from the Hebrew Alphabet.  In reading through this Psalm, one can find the meditations of the heart, the movements of the hands, & the all surpassing Grace of God.

In Teth the psalmist is speaking that even when all does not seem to be well, even when the world tells us that we are afflicted…God has done great things for us.  God is the great King above us.  God is to be greatly remembered in all things through us.  Know Him as God and know the the way to follow God.  Ask for God Himself, by His grace to be your teacher of discernment and knowledge.

By His Grace.  Through His Gospel.  For His Glory.

“Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee,
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not,
As Thou hast been,Thou forever wilt be.

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above;
Join with all nature in manifold witness,
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own great presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today, and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!” -Thomas 0. Chisholm, 1923
