Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” – Hebrews 13:8 NASBImage

In light of the election today and the results that many are questioning, I submit this entry to you…

But first, let’s chat about something.

Many times people suffer from all kinds of fears.  Some of these are rational and some are irrational.  Some can be taken lightly and make us chuckle, others make us ache and paralyzed by their trauma.  For a great review of “phobias” check out The Phobia List.  It is a point of interest to know that aside from the usual suspects of

  • Arachnephobia- the fear of spiders
  • Claustrophobia- the fear of confined spaces
  • Acrophobia- the fear of heights

We have some unusual fears as well…

  • Graphophobia- the fear of writing or handwriting
  • Ablutophobia- the fear of bathing
  • Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia- Fear of the number 666.

And my personal favorite with cruel irony…

  • Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia- Fear of long words. 35 letters…Seriously?

The world at this time when you view Facebook and hear the questions floating around, seem to be suffering from incredible angst (on both sides of the political lines), distrust, and a fear similar to “apocalyptophobia” (fearing the end of the world.)

I would like to share two things about these fears and the Only redemption in the midst of them.

First of all, in the arena of politics- on this day, one of two imperfect fallible men will be elected as president, and many other fallible imperfect people will be elected to all the other seats.  Why?  Because all of mankind, aside from Jesus Christ Himself, are imperfect & fallible.

The Only All Perfect, Infallible, Almighty, Savior King Is Jesus Christ!  Regardless of who sits in the White House, Jesus Is on the Throne of Eternity.  There is no need for someone to be elected as the LORD God…He is already LORD.  He has always been LORD.  He will always be LORD.

Secondly, Because Jesus is the LORD of all eternity…He and only He holds the decisions for when nations rise and fall.  Only Jesus is simultaneously the Alpha & the Omega…The Beginning & The End…The First & The Last.  He holds the future for both our peace and our tribulation.  For those who are His followers, this is true Hope and Blessed Assurance in the midst of any “troubling” times.  For those who do not know Jesus as their Savior, He is the Authority that all will find their reckoning before.  Philippians 2: 9-11

Soo… How now should we live if you follow Jesus?

1)  Be Trusting of Jesus & His Ultimate Authority…

  • For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.  He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. -Colossians 1:13-17 NASB
  • These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. -John 16:33

2)  Live With The Grace HE HAS GIVEN US…

  • Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your graciousness be known to everyone.  The Lord is near.  Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peaceof God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.  Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable — if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise — dwell on these things.  -Philippians 4:4-8 HCSB
  • Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful. -John 14:27 HCSB

3)  Be Bold In Sharing The Gospel of Jesus…Our True Hope

  • But what does it say? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”-that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 9that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for “WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.”  How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. -Romans 10:8-15, 17 NASB
  • This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. -John 17:3 NASB

4)  Pray Earnestly For God to Receive Glory In All Things In All People…

  • First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time. For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.  Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension. –1 Timothy 2: 1-8  {NASB}
  • Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right.  For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.  Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.  Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king. -1 Peter 2:13-17 {NASB}
  • Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities.  For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.  Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.  For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil.  Do you want to have no fear of authority?   Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; for it is a minister of God to you for good.  But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.  Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only becauseof wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.  For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulersare servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.  Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor. -Romans 13:1-7  {NASB}
Fears can be crippling but they don’t need to make us forget that JESUS Is LORD and that Jesus Loves Us Dearly!  “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear” -1 John 4:18 NASB
His love can cure the crippled and perfect the once paralyzed!
